Overcharged Legal Fees

Contact us with the name of your former solicitor and a brief explanation of the fees or deductions you would like us to check. We’ll review your enquiry and advise whether we can help. Before you decide to proceed, we’ll explain the process, our fees and any potential risks.

Timescales vary depending on the circumstances of your case, the availability of documents and whether your former solicitor disputes the challenge. Some cases resolve through correspondence; others require court proceedings. We’ll explain the likely timescale and keep you informed as your case progresses.

You can still contact us. Tell us what you remember about your claim and your former solicitor. We’ll explain which documents we need and whether we can obtain them on your behalf.

The relevant date is when you instructed your former solicitor, rather than when your accident happened.

We only consider cases where you instructed your former solicitor on or after 1 April 2013. If your accident happened earlier but you instructed your solicitor on or after that date, contact us so we can assess whether we can help.

We will need to know the name of your former solicitor in order to take on your case. If you’re not sure then the best thing to do is check through old paperwork and emails to see if you can find any clues. You could also ask your bank who paid you the compensation.Try checking old emails, letters or bank statements for details of the firm that handled your claim. If your compensation was paid by bank transfer, the payment reference may help.

If you’re still unsure, contact us with the information you have and we’ll advise whether we can help identify the firm.

We can help people living in England and Wales with a claim for overcharged legal fees.
